Holiday makeup look 2

Crackle inspired with @Sugarpillmakeup

P1339

Minus the messy nail job, this red eye makeup look was inspired by my recently crackled Sally Hansen nails. The photo is not the best, but the eyeshadow resembled the nails. This is going to be as sweet as sugar (pill) for the holidays! Thanks, Amy Doan!

Face:
MAC Prolongwear NC42 mixed with MAC Microionized Airbrush Formula in Purple. NC42 is a little too yellow. Purple is the opposite of yellow, so it was used to balance the color. Mixing both formulas strengthened Prolongwear by adding properties of the Microionized color. The foundation did not move! The only setback to using MAC airbrush is the white reflection cast by light. Juan Pantoja teaches that MAC is a product formulated for studio use. Light should be at least four feet away. Contact Juan at the MAC Pro Shop at Mall at Millenia to schedule personal consultations. His rates are affordable and definitely worth the money no matter what skill level you are.

Eyes:
Sugarpill Goldilux and Asylum
Asylum was the base color over Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eye Shadow Helper. Goldilux was used to create a crackle effect and as liner on the top lid. It was also used in the crease. To assist with control of the loose powder product, MAC Eyeliner Mixing Medium was used.

Full review of Sugarpill Makeup to follow. I am very impressed with how vivid the colors are. These two colors were only three quarters full compared to an almost overflowing Royal Sugar. The color payoff is amazing.

Lips:

How to use @occmakeup Lip Tars

I have been testing OCC Makeup Lip Tars for a couple of weeks. I’ve tried them on dried lips, moisturized lips, and with and without lip liner.

Chapstick does not work well for me, but I often use Blistex lip balm to soften my lips. Sometimes I use Aquafina, but it is too similar to Vaseline. Some Lip Tars are very potent, and they glide over very smoothly on unprimed lips. Strutter and NSFW are very robust colors with impeccable coverage over unprimed lips. Rx, Traffic, Hush, Cha Cha, and Trick did not smooth over as well. Even over moisturized lips, they were a little streaky.

The best thing I have tried so far is Sally Hansen Lip Inflation. The OCC Lip Tars appear to work well over the glossy, clear base. Melange, Conquest, and Red Iron Oxide glided on glossy then tried to matte as the days progressed. I fell asleep in Beta to see if it would last the night. Of course it was a little faded, but my lips were orange through the night until I brushed my teeth and washed it off the next morning. Cha Cha is very similar to Lime Crime Cosmopop, and Conquest is similar to Coquette but not as pink.

I have used Lip Tars over liner, but my colors do not tend to bleed. Liner is not necessary for me, so I cannot say whether or not liner effectively aides against product bleed.

I have used Lip Tars with brushes and straight from tubes. It depends on color used and desired effect. Brushing moves products in general, so the application technique is important. An angled eyebrow shaping or eyeliner brush works well to clean messes or tidy lip lines.

I have not mixed many shades. A nice mix was Red Iron Oxide and Conquest. It was a pink nude. Hush and Trick. Traffic and NSFW. Mostly when I use two colors, I create a gradient, do I really do not mix them. They seem to smooth and blend on their own. When mixing, I’ve just mixed directly on my lips with brushes. Sometimes the color does not spread evenly that way, but I do not always like my makeup to be perfect. It is a reminder that we are humans, and humans are not perfect. Sometimes the streaky effect looks nice. It is about choices and preferences.

Purple is unconventional and unique

National Purple Day occurs yearly and is similar to wearing pink for breast cancer awareness.  Purple is for epilepsy.  Did you remember to wear purple on National Purple Day? If not, you can prepare for next time with some pretty purple colors.

This look was created with Lime Crime Makeup and Got-Lashes False Eyelashes.  Empress was added to both outer corners of the top lid.  Citrus Girl was dabbed in the center of the top lid and used as liner on the lower lid.  Twilight was used in the crease.  Face was prepped with moisturizer and Studio Fix Foundation Powder was used on the face and as concealer.  Azalea was used to add a pop of pink on the cheekbones.  Airborne Unicorn was used to bring the look together, but we cannot forget the lovely purple false eyelashes.  No eyeliner was used.

This look is conservative enough for Orlando in a dramatic, date way.  It can be worn across town, at local parks, or even to the mall.  Purple is a fun, high fashion type of color that can only be done justice by creative makeup artists in Orlando.  It is not quite a trend in Orlando yet, but perhaps that is because we do not carry highly pigmented cosmetics or fun colors such as those by Lime Crime.  Lime Crime is not available in Orlando, but Mac Cosmetics is at some major department stores, at the Florida Mall, and at Mall at Millenia.
